FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Donating to the Library

Does the Library accept donations of books, videos, etc.?

The Friends and Foundation of the San Francisco Public Library accepts donations of materials which they sell to raise money for the Library. They will accept most hardcover and paperback books in good condition on all subjects. Donations may be taken to Book Bay at the Main Library or to the Book Donation Center at Ft. Mason Center or to the branches.

Books to be considered for addition to the Library's collection may be dropped off at the Information Desk on the first floor of the Main Library. Books may also be dropped off at a branch but please talk to the branch staff before bringing in your materials. For more information call 415-557-4400.
